Shrooms vs LSD: How do they Differ?

by | Jun 30, 2022 | Magic mushrooms | 0 comments

When a substance or drug is set to be decriminalized, researchers start studying its various effects, including its safety, effects, and relation to other drugs. The same is happening with psychedelics that seem to be following the footsteps of Cannabis when it comes to research and legalization. A few drugs are frequently talked about in relation to shrooms. One such drug is acid-based Lysergic Acid Diethylamide, commonly called acid. LSD is much similar to Shrooms; however, the properties differ, making them comparable. This article will discuss how Shrooms and LSD are different from each other.

Introduction:

LSD is entirely synthetic and a pure crystalline substance. It is very potent compared to street drugs, and the standard dosage is as tiny as a few milligrams. It came into existence when scientists were studying different extracts of Ergot. It is processed and stored in alcohol. Even the administration of LSD requires alcohol as the primary vehicle. One may even use LSD by dropping liquid LSD on gummies and different other foods so that it will elicit effects via the digestive tract.

Shrooms or Magic Mushrooms refer to the psychedelic variety of mushrooms. They contain potent hallucinogen substances like Psilocybin. Being naturally found and one of the most widely distributed hallucinogenic compounds in nature, Shrooms are more popular than LSD. They come in various shapes and appearances; only an expert can detect them with the naked eye; a novice may end up putting his life in danger by taking some deadly poisonous mushroom for Magic mushrooms because of its looks. Although their effects are lesser potent, people prefer to go for this miraculous psychedelic product because of the safety concerns. Companies process and induce them in different products so that people can consume them efficiently.

Effects:

As we discussed earlier, the effects of LSD are much more potent than those of Shrooms. LSD may make a person experience intense visual and audio delusions that will even affect the perceptions of surrounding people. Both psychedelic mushrooms and LSD can elicit the following effects:

  • The perception that surrounding objects are moving
  • Wrong perception of time
  • Audio and visual hallucinations
  • The sensation that the stuff around is melting
  • Change perception of taste, smell, and touch
  • Spiritual experiences
  • Increased Blood Pressure
  • Dilated Pupils
  • Enhanced sense of connection
  • Excitement
  • Paranoid delusions

Although the effects of both LSD and Magic Mushrooms are common, they differ in the timing and duration of impact. For instance, LSD takes one hour to bring up the effects, which last for about 8 hours; it may persist for 10-12 hours in case of higher doses. On the other hand, Magic Mushrooms have quicker onset and small duration of effects, i.e., results appear in about 30 minutes and disappear in about 4-6 hours. The onset time can be more significant for both substances if it’s taken via the digestive tract.

How to ingest them?

Mushrooms can be used in food like any other mushroom-based food. It may also be dried and added to tea or coffee. LSD can be ingested using a dropper; however, the best and most popular way is to apply it to small paper tabs that make them dissolve in the mouth.

Dosage:

LSD being much more potent, requires less dosage to elicit the same effects that come up from a larger dose of psychedelics. Therefore, you can handle LSD easily for its small dosage; however, people prefer Psilocybin for its quicker and short-term effects. Reports of bad trips are generally more with LSD since you can always take “too much”, not knowing what the best amount is.

The Trip:

The effects of LSD trips are typically cerebral. On the other hand, psychedelics elicit whole-body effects. It is much necessary to have someone who’d guide you through a journey when you are consuming LSD. Mushrooms and LSD have different types of hallucinating trips despite being similar substances. Tripping on either can be dangerous if proper cautions are not followed, but the awful trips have always been a characteristic of LSD. The quality of an LSD trip largely depends on the mindset of the user and the support of people.

Can I combine LSD and Shrooms?

Although you can use a combination of both, it is not a better approach since the combination will increase the intensity of both substances. Check both ingredients individually, starting from the low dose and see what works best for you.

Takeaway:

Both compounds come with risks and may even be illegal in your area. You have to be highly cautious before starting your journey with psychedelics.
